Races & Regattas

It is very rewarding to watch your child compete in sailing races and regattas.  We hope your child has this goal as well.  During a non-Covid year, typically the Intermediate and Advanced Sailors  would compete in a local regatta or two, along with the Junior Olympics.

Due to the limited number of sailboats, the large number of talented sailors, and the recommendation of the instructors, races are ONLY for:

  • Instructors In Training

  • Advanced Sailors

  • Intermediate Sailors that earned their Intermediate Skills Card

Jr. Sailors race alongside the Bow Mar Yacht Club.  We are collaboratively working to bridge the Junior Sailors with the supportive adults in the Bow Mar Yacht Club.  The Yacht Club has a lot of expertise to offer on and off the water.  An overlap creates a stronger bond within the Bow Mar sailing community.

The majority of the Advanced Sailing Camp curriculum is based on racing.  It is strongly encouraged that all Advanced Sailors race on Sundays, participate in regattas, and race in the Junior Olympics representing Bow Mar.

Wednesday Races

  • Every Wednesday at 5:00 pm in the Spring.

  • Only Advanced Junior Sailors are invited to race on Wednesdays.

  • Sailors must use their own boat.

Sunday Races

  • Every Sunday at 2:30 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

  • Only Instructors In Training, Advanced and Intermediate Junior Sailors (who earn their Intermediate Skills Card) are invited to race on Sundays.

  • Sailboats are first come first serve.

Please see the calendar for upcoming Regattas.
