2026 Season

Love sunshine, sailboats, and seeing kids light up when they catch their first breeze? Join our Jr. Sailing team!

 

We’re looking for assistant head instructor(s), instructors, and unpaid interns who bring energy, positivity, and a love for the water. Our program is all about fun, confidence, teamwork, and hands-on learning, and we want role models who are excited to jump in, encourage young sailors, and help make every day on the lake a great one. If you enjoy being outside, staying active, and sharing your passion for sailing, you’ll fit right in!

Training is provided.

Position Details

Key Responsibilities for all positions:

  • Teach sailing skills to children and teenagers across multiple skill levels

  • Implement daily lesson plans for different age groups

  • Ensure student safety at all times on and off the water

  • Perform routine maintenance of boats, sailing equipment and area

  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and program staff

  • Conduct pre-sailing safety briefings and equipment checks

Physical Requirements for all positions:

  • Ability to lift boats and equipment (up to 50 pounds)

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Strong physical stamina

Certifications Required:

  • All must be completed before class starts on June 1. You don't need them completed before you apply.

- Boating Safety Course:

We will be holding our own Boat Safety course on Sunday, May 31. Please keep this day free for this mandatory training. You can also do this online course: It's free and will take you 4-8 hours to complete.

- CPR and First Aid

Lots of options through the American Red Cross and American Heart Association. Just use the good ol' internet to find a class!​

The typical 8 weeks of sailing classes. Note that we are sailing the week of July 4 this year. NEW: STEM in sailing class. Friday's from 2-4pm

NEW: One week of classes that will include instructing from 9am-4:30pm. There will be a learn to sail class in the morning and a learn to race class in the afternoon. 

The first-in-awhile Bow Mar Youth Regatta followed by end-of-season Awards and Party
