2026 Season

Love sunshine, sailboats, and seeing kids light up when they catch their first breeze? Join our Jr. Sailing team!

We’re looking for assistant head instructor(s), instructors, and unpaid interns who bring energy, positivity, and a love for the water. Our program is all about fun, confidence, teamwork, and hands-on learning, and we want role models who are excited to jump in, encourage young sailors, and help make every day on the lake a great one. If you enjoy being outside, staying active, and sharing your passion for sailing, you’ll fit right in!

Training is provided.

Position Details

Key Responsibilities for all positions:

Teach sailing skills to children and teenagers across multiple skill levels
Implement daily lesson plans for different age groups
Ensure student safety at all times on and off the water
Perform routine maintenance of boats, sailing equipment and area
Communicate effectively with parents, students, and program staff
Conduct pre-sailing safety briefings and equipment checks

Physical Requirements for all positions:

Ability to lift boats and equipment (up to 50 pounds)
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong physical stamina

Certifications Preferred:

All must be completed before class starts on June 1. You don't need them completed before you apply

It's free and will take you 4-8 hours to complete.

CPR and First Aid

Lots of options through the American Red Cross and American Heart Association. Just use the good ol' internet to find a class!

Assistant Head Instructor

Be the Head Instructor's right hand person. Help them teach the curriculum on and off the water, help design engaging games and lessons in alignment with the learning objectives. Have safety as your top priority.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 15 years old
CPR and First Aid Certification
Colorado Safe Boating Card - https://www.boat-ed.com/colorado/
Ability to swim at Red Cross Level 5 or equivalent
Have taken at least one summer of Advanced Sailing
Pass background check

Preferred Qualifications:

Current US Sailing Level I Instructor Certification
Previous youth teaching experience
Lifeguard certification
Competitive sailing background

Instructor

Help teach curriculum on and off the water, keep safety a top priority and ensure kids are engaged and learning.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 15 years old

Intern

This is unpaid, but don't let that deter you! Being an intern can lead to a great summer job down the line. You'll help participants stay engaged in their learning and ensure everyone is staying safe. You'll help prepare the boating area, help teach the curriculum on and off the water and you get to set your own hours!

Minimum Qualifications for Interns

Must be at least 12 years old
Have taken at least one summer of Advanced Sailing

The typical 8 weeks of sailing classes. Note that we are sailing the week of July 4 this year.

Two weeks of one-week Intensives that will include instructing from 8:30am-5pm. There will be a learn to sail, learn to race, and STEM in sailing class.

The first-in-awhile Bow Mar Youth Regatta followed by end-of-season Awards and Party
