Does my kid have to pass their buddy test?
Only if they are in 9-10, 11+ and Advance Sailing. 6-8 year olds leave their lifejackets on the whole class and do not need to pass the Buddy Test.
Is the age limit firm?
No! If your kid is turning a year older during the summer, they can sail with the older group. And if your kid is hesitant about sailing, maybe consider them staying in the younger group.
Is this a safe sport?
Eva Rossell has Level 4 Sailing Certification. That is a ton of content and safety training.
And all of the instructors have Safe Boating training, CPR, First Aid Certification, concussion training, ability to swim at Red Cross Level 5, and are background checked.
Our boats are new and designed for kids and teens to learn how to sail. The boom is higher and the boat has all round edges and safe to sail.
Is this the reason we moved to be by water?!
YES! Sailing is a wonderfully unique Bow Mar tradition that is treasured and valued.
Jr Sailing not only teaches the sport and strategy, but it also teaches self-confidence, independence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and STEM skills!
Sailing is a life-long skill that can offer unique adventure and time spent outdoors.
